If it's necessary for the sake of preserving reasoned debate I'll even go as far as making the whole forum "invitation only", so be reassured that I won't let the whole thing deteriorate. However, I don't want to be too heavy-handed; there's no point us all sitting around agreeing with each other.
I don't think that invitation-only is a good idea because that would discourage a lot of 'passing trade'. As you say, there is no point in us all agreeing with each other.
However, maybe there could be some sort of 'three strikes and you're out' policy. I'm sure that none of us here would want to discourage people from putting a point of view that conflicts with the skeptical position, it's the abuse that we're not so keen on. Also, the fact that this person keeps saying the same thing over and over in different threads is starting to get irritating.
Is there some sort of statement that people have to agree to when they register? I can't remember. It might be useful to have a house policy stated somewhere that explicitly bans personal abuse.
So, maybe one final strongly-worded warning and then out for this particular offender? (Is there any way to stop someone re-registering under a different name?)
