Hi Tessa

Mike did a few literature reviews on NLP research to date in the late 1980s. I have no reason to suspect that human beings have changed significantly so as to alter his conclusions!

OK guys you are all correct in what you are saying, cannot fault it. But I may have not made my point clear enough. Scientific method to proving believers may be boring, but while the scientific skeptic sits on their backside. A relative of mine are being mentally bullied by religious Christian fanatics another is giving away all her husbands hard earned cash for magic cures for trivial ailments. A friend has paid £50 to be hypnotised to stop smoking…which did not work she could not get her money back…yes… because she did not believe in it strong enough. My boss crystal dowses application forms to choose the right candidate. I know of a group of engineers that were offered to pull straws to take the night shift but refused because they perceived the other group of engineers to have more luck than them. Engineers! These examples vary from daft (what’s the harm in it?) to morally wrong if not criminal.
If I state there is no paranormal or supernatural thingy in this universe is there a yes or no. For me it is a no they do not exist. And James Randy is sure of this with his million-dollar offer and clever enough to show himself be “open mindedâ€
“Ahhh yeah but no but yeah but no but…â€Â

I agree we should not "sit on our backsides" - that's why we're all here, after all, with a magazine and a website and pub meetings. Some of us even appear on TV occasionally and write letters to editors and MPs.

It's all voluntary though - to do serious lobbying we would have to raise funds and give up the day jobs. Some bequests would help, although the Australian skeptics were nearly destroyed by one.

very interesting thread, again I feel if we join forces, your group and my slowly growing group we couldd effect change, however i have found some groups aggressive to me so if you would rather not join up just let me know politely,

regards,

Den. :)
