Aside from being one of the UK's most noted science communicators, Dr Singh is also a member of the newly formed Editorial Advisory Board for The Skeptic Magazine (the full list of members will be announced very shortly). As such, we are proud to support this cause, campaigning to keep the English libel laws out of science, and to prevent well-intended critical discussion of scientific and social issues from being hindered or silenced by the prospect of legal action. This campaign and Sense About Science have received considerable attention recently from an advert published in Nature and the writings of numerous journalists and bloggers. The campaign has also received support from many notable academics and celebrities, some of whom are listed in this advert which will be printed in the forthcoming issue of The Skeptic. Following an edited reprint of Dr Singh's article in COSMOS magazine today, The Skeptic is also making the article available online. Although this is not an exact reprint of the original article, it has been approved for publication by Dr Singh's lawyers. Please feel free to circulate the article and to respond with comments on the blog or Twitter. Also, take a look at the monuments supporting the Sense About Science campaign in Second Life. |
